Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince

Though most children are visual learners, mimicking the world around them, it is through their hearts that they cultivate delight, self love and confidence.
Yoga is truly 'the world's oldest and most perfect form of exercise'. It is PE, Science as and Art class combined.
The benefits of yoga for school-aged children encompass all aspects of the body, mind, senses, emotion, behavior and intelligence. Yoga improves; oxygen flow to the brain, concentration, focus, balance, coordination, self confidence, sensory awareness and physical strength.
More and more educators are now aware of how important the practice of yoga is, which is why yoga in the classroom has become such a vital part of the school day.
Through the poses and the yogic breathing, students begin to release and relax into a creative state that ignites joy and increases positive chemical messengers that improve mood, causing a positive attitude adjustment.
Everyone these days feels the negative affects of stress on the body. Children have fewer coping mechanisms than adults and need a safe, nurturing activity to relieve this tension. A yoga class provides just that!
My "Little Feet" yoga programs are tailored to the specific group of children I am working with. I don't teach a certain "program" that can be franchised or bought but rather create the appropriate yogic recipe for each individual situation.
Nourishing our bodies from the inside out through yoga and from the outside in through proper nutrition creates a harmonious state and eases the learning environment. Through discussion and experiment, I encourage the children to become aware of their bodies responses to certain foods, the difference between a want and a need. Through the practice of regular yoga, children are equipped with sharper senses and begin to make conscious food choices on their own, based on the clear body-mind signals they receive.
My yoga program can be run at your school as a lunch hour, after school or curriculum based program. For information on how to bring yoga to your child's school please contact me.
